Makar Sankranti is celebrated on 14th Jan every year. This festival is celebrated in almost all states of India with different names such as Makar Sankranti in West Bengal, Pongal in Tamil Nadu, Bihu in Assam, Lohri in Punjab etc.

It is a harvest festival during which farmers harvest their crops. Then the harvested crops are cooked and farmers enjoy the food with their family members. Sugarcane is also eaten during this festival.

People fly kites. In West Bengal, people make sweets made of rice flour. Some also exchange jaggery and til-based sweets with each other. This festival depicts the end of winter season.

I enjoyed celebrating this festival.
