Bah! Online school! We all feel like logging off sometimes. For children on the spectrum, it is an even bigger struggle. As we saw with Madhav, seeing so many faces on the screen, listening to so many different voices together can overwhelm them. What helps? Letting them switch off their video, giving them fidget breaks and not force them to constantly look at the screen.

Zoom fatigue is everyone’s nemesis! But for children on the spectrum, it is an even bigger struggle. Looking at several faces on a screen at the same time, listening to the different voices together can overwhelm them.
Therefore it is important as a teacher, parent or caregiver to understand their need to switch off video during class and their discomfort at sitting in front of the screen for prolonged periods.
A good idea is to give them fidget breaks and not force them to look constantly at the screen.
