How was IPL 2023 for you? 13-year-old Sujeet from Chennai writes this happy blog about his team CSK who were the winners of the tournament.
Since 2008, when the IPL started, I knew Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was underrated. It is this quality that has made it a super team. The inner spirit of this team is priceless and the team has one of the best track records in the league.
CSK’s teamwork surprises me and inspires me to become a cricketer. I keep fantasizing about the way they play. I am a huge Dhoni fan. Whenever I hear someone say Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the best, I say, “That’s my man.” CSK is one of the greatest cricket franchises. The history of this team is tremendous and you won’t believe what this team had to go through to achieve such great heights.
IN 2010, CSK won their first IPL Cup. The team would later go on and win the trophy in 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023. Thus, leading to a total of 5 winning titles. It wasn’t as easy as it looks. On 14 July 2015, the RM Lodha Committee suspended Chennai Super Kings from the Indian Premier League for a period of two years after it was found that one of the owner’s family members had been in contact with bookies and was betting on IPL matches. That would have devastated most people but Dhoni and his boys came roaring back to take the title in 2018 and prove to the world that merit can triumph any adversity.
In the IPL 2023, CSK won 8/14 matches. It was a great milestone, after months and months of playing against the greatest players of the world. Gujarat Titans who was the finalist was a superb opponent. While chasing, Dhoni got out on the first ball. The audience was shocked and his expression was priceless but Jadeja was his guardian angel helping them win the match on the final ball. It was the top headline in the newspapers the next day. The picture of Dhoni holding Jadeja in the air will be a moment to remember forever.
As a CSK fan, I hope they keep playing like this in the future.
