Once upon a time there lived a boy called Tom. One day, Tom was playing with his ball
(Draw figure #1).
As he was playing, the ball bounced high and crossed the fence of his house (Draw figure #2) and then rolled into his neighbour’s garden.
His neighbour was not at home. Tom tried to open the gate, but it just would not open. So, Tom had to climb over the fence. When he did so and entered his neighbour’s garden, two hedgehogs curled up near his feet. (Draw figure #3). He shooed them away.
In his neighbour’s garden, he saw a pathway leading to the house. (Draw figure #4).
Near the pathway, many fruits had fallen from the trees (Draw figure #5). Tom felt hungry looking at the fruits. But he had to hurry and get his ball.
Near the house there were two trees. (Draw figure #6) Tom decided to climb those trees.
He climbed the first tree. He went to the first branch (Draw figure #7) but could not find his ball there.
Then he climbed the second branch (Draw figure #8) but could not find it there either.
Then Tom climbed the third branch (Draw figure #9) but the ball was nowhere in sight.
Tom thought, “Let me climb the second tree, I might find my ball there.”
He climbed the first branch (Draw figure #10) but could not find the ball.
Then he climbed the second branch (Draw figure #11) but alas, he could not find it there either.
So, he climbed to the final branch (Draw figure #12) with no hope of finding the ball.
But guess what, he saw something hidden between the leaves. It appeared round and colourful. He thought, “This must be my ball!” But as he was going to grab it, the round and colourful thing bit him. And do you know what it was? It was the ladybug which you see, right there on your paper.
