I have read a number of books by Indian authors Ruskin bond and Sudha Murthy. But reading a book by a foreign author was a new experience. The book I read is called ‘George’s Marvellous Medicines’ by Roald Dahl.

I read a book by Roald Dahl for the first time and my experience was extremely good.

So now that I’ve already read the book borrowed from my school library, I must give you all details too.

Let’s start with the characters. They are George Kranky, Mr.Killy Kranky, Mrs. Kranky and the old wicked grandma.

Talking about the setting, there’s no such proper place mentioned in the book but I guess it was set in the Western part of the world.

The book is a single story divided into 15 short chapters. It’s about an 8-year-old boy named George who is fed up with his wicked Grandma. When George’s parents aren’t at home, she always orders George to do things. She talks about useless things and myths. Everyday at 11:00 a.m it’s Grandma’s time to take her medicine so George thinks of making a different kind of medicine for her.

The medicine ends up altering the way she looks dramatically and this gives him an idea to sell it. What happens next? And how does his plan pan out? The sequence of events will definitely make you laugh.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 as the pictures in the book are black and white and hazy too.  I recommend this book for ages 6-15.

Overall my experience was great. Do read it and let us know how you felt.
