Hockey World Cup India 2023  : Everything you want to know.

The Men’s FIH (International Hockey Federation) World cup is on and it is so exciting that India is the host nation this year.

Hockey is a game that has been played in India for a long time. Hockey has a long-standing and rich legacy and it has been crowned as the national sport of India. Our country has a bright and deep- rooted history related to this sport. There have been incredible leaders from India like Dhyan Chand, Ajit Pal Singh and Udham Singh who have been engaged in this sport. After every four years, at the Hockey World Cup , the world’s greatest teams play some of the toughest, most skillful and most prodigious hockey games.

This year in 2023 , the Hockey World Cup began with a grand opening on the 13th of January at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Some of the most tenacious and resilient teams that are participating are the hockey teams of India, Australia, Germany, Belgium and more.

Players to watch out for in this edition of the World Cup are Eddie Ockenden (Australia), Devindar Walmiki (India), Maico Casella (Argentina), Jonghyun (South Korea), Thierry Brinkman (Netherlands) along with Felix Denayer (Belgium).

In the last World Cup, Belgium had a marvellous win against Netherlands with a 3-2 win. India won its last Hockey World Cup in 1975 with Captain Ajit Pal Singh, who led the team. India’s hockey team is one of the strongest ones this year.  This time, the Indian men’s hockey team is captained by Harmanpreet Singh, along with 33 other selected players who will be competing in the World Cup.

Seeing the determination and hard work of our national team, we hope India will be able to repeat the historic win of 1975.
