FIFA World Cup! The great football tournament for football lovers is back!

Four years after France’s triumph at the FIFA World Cup, 32 Teams will be returning to compete for the coveted FIFA World Cup Trophy.

FIFA stands for Fédération Internationale de Football Association.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is being held in Qatar.

It starts from 20 November and will end on 18 December, 2022. It is the first-ever football world cup to be held in winter.

The tournament’s top teams are Brazil, France, Portugal, Argentina, England, Germany and Spain.  Other teams who look promising are Netherlands, Senegal and Uruguay. These teams are looking for glory(as well as ranking spots).

Fans are also a vital part of the World Cup. The 2022 FIFA World Cup is expected to be the most watched sporting event; most estimates say that 62.5% of the total global population will watch the world cup.

So who do you think will win? I would like to support Brazil as they have a rich sporting history and I would like to see them win. I am also supporting Argentina as it’s Lionel Messi’s last world cup and I want him to win at least 1 world cup. The first match was between Qatar and Ecuador on Sunday, 20th Nov 2022 at 9:30 PM IST.

2018 was a good world cup and I think 2022 will be an extraordinary world cup.

Facts

1.This is the latest in a calendar year that a FIFA World Cup has been held.

2.Qatar is the first Middle Eastern Country to Host the FIFA World Cup
3.EA Sports, a company that makes football video games, had done a FIFA World Cup Simulation in their new game ‘FIFA 23’, in which Argentina won. The funny thing is, this company has predicted the FIFA World Cup since 2010 and got it correct every time.
4.Lionel Messi, a football legend will be retiring at the end of the world cup. It is sad to see such a big icon leave the football scene.
