When the world betrays you
Determination in eyes, goals in mind,
I set off; the “Real me” I wanna find.
Fight the world to win a “well appreciated” place,
But I wanna learn at my pace.
The world slaps me,
It says there is no “my pace” and that’s
how its gotta be.
Be competitive and adapt, it says,
Oh just how, the world betrays.
Society says fame and money is our worth,
My worth is my score,
If it’s bad they ignore, if it’s good they adore.
Just be you, my heart says,
But the world slaps me, and says,
Be like them, you will live better days.
Oh just how, the world betrays.
The world will slap you, that’s its way.
But I will still be me, come what may.
If I become successful by doing what I have in me,
the world will turn and say “Be like me”.
