I received this series as a gift from my Athai (Aunt) for my birthday in the year 2020. I don’t really know why, I didn’t read it at all. But for no reason I read this series a few days back. I was blown away and very impressed when I read these books. So, I decided to write a review about it so other people could also enjoy reading this series as much as I did.

The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare is a trilogy. It has three parts:

1) Clockwork Angel

2) Clockwork Prince

3) Clockwork Princess

The story is set in Victorian London. The series follows Tessa Gray, an orphaned teenage girl who discovers she has the power to shapeshift, but doesn’t bear a Warlock’s mark. She is plunged into a world she never knew existed and has to learn to control her power while navigating through some complexities that come her way. She will also have to forge an alliance with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute if she wants to survive in this dangerous world.

This series is the most amusing and fascinating one I have ever read recently! The way the author has written and the way she has added even the tiniest detail surprises me as not many authors have made me feel like I was a a part of that fictional world. I felt as though I was submerged into that world. This is a poignant yet at the same time a witty tale as well. I really liked how the front page was illustrated. It is actually one of the reasons why I picked these books. The illustration was tantalizing, fresh and captivating. I love the writing style especially the third person perspective, making it more mysterious and intriguing. My favorite part was the conclusion of the last book, Clockwork Princess. I feel this is an amazing series that kept me gripped the whole time. I finished all three in two days. It is worth reading and the ending didn’t disappoint! Again, this was THE best read ever!

This is a prequel to the mortal instruments series which I am moving on to. Happy Reading!

I give this book 5 stars and recommend it for ages 12+.
