‘The Day I Combated Noise Pollution’ Essay by 10 year old Bookosmian from Kolkata

Once I was studying about noise pollution. I read that there was a lot of noise pollution in India. Then I thought of helping to reduce noise pollution.

A moment later, an idea struck me that I could create a campaign against noise pollution. So, I decided to go and ask my friends in helping me create a campaign. When I went to ask them if they would help me, they said that it would take a lot of effort. Then when I came back home, I went up to my room and lay down on the bed.

I said to myself, “Get your act together or this opportunity to organize an event will slip out of your hands.”

Next, I decided to talk to my father about this. He said that he would help me by letting me talk to some of the young children in the Rotary Club who are a part of the Interact Club.

So, I went to talk to some of the children in the Interact Club the next day. They told me about the things that were needed and that we also needed police permission. Then they said that they could help me create a campaign against noise pollution.

The next day we all went to the police station and I even invited some of my friends. Subsequently, the police gave us permission.

Afterwards, my friends and I went around the neighbourhood to ask people if they would like to join us. It turned out that a lot of people wanted to join. Later, we all gathered and started making posters and banners.

Finally, the next day all of us gathered near South City entrance and then after everybody arrived, we walked down till Jadavpur police station with banners and posters. I think everyone enjoyed it including some of the policemen!

After that day I learnt that if I try and have confidence and most of all believe in myself, I can achieve anything.
