My Visit To The Queen Of Hills: Ooty I Travelogue By Satyajyoti

On Monday afternoon, May 8, we were sitting in the bedroom feeling bored when my father said that we should be leaving for Ooty tonight. I couldn’t believe it. First, we thought that he was joking, but then he showed the tickets for tonight. I was extremely joyful.

That night we boarded the Nilgiri SF Express. Early in the morning, as the sun rose and the chirping of the birds echoed through our bedroom in the Grand Sapphire Hotel. We were all up and about to set out. First, we went to the TTDC Boathouse, where we had a joyride for half an hour. After the water joyride, we had breakfast of hot white pasta. We then left for Dolphin Point View; as I saw the view, I was astounded. I could see the whole of the Queen of the Hills and Coimbatore’s aerial view covered in a light shading of mist, just in one glance, in a breathtaking view. Trust me, you will never see such a view from the peaks of Ladakh to the shores of Kanniyakumari.We had a chocolate milkshake and then set out to have lunch at a hotel. We had Chicken noodles. Next, we set out to Sims Park. It was awesome with so many beautiful flowers.

Next, we went to a place which has made Ooty famous and iconic for years. Can you guess it? Yes, it is none other than Ooty Rose Garden, which won global awards like the Garden of Excellence Award. It has more than 10,500 varieties, of which I memorised a few like Pink Paradise, Queen Elizabeth, Ripple flower, etc. You won’t see such flowers in the Mughal gardens situated in Rashtrapathi Bhavan. After all the fun, we had a good night’s sleep. Early in the morning, we had a joyride in the UNESCO Heritage NMR: Nilgiris Mountain Railway built by the British. We had so much fun. In the evening, we left for Coimbatore, followed by Trichy. And that’s all I can describe about my wonderful trip to Udhagamandalam.
