Durga Puja – Why Do We Celebrate This Festival?
Hey everyone! Your friend, Sara here.
Durga Puja is here! To take us through the essence of this beloved Indian festival, here’s 8 year old Prisha Mehra, a Bookosmian from Kolkata.

Durga Puja is a Hindu festival celebrated to mark the victory of good over evil as the mother goddess Durga killed Mahishasura on this day.
There is a story behind this. Once Brahma granted Mahishasura the boon to be killed only in the hands of a woman.

Goddess Durga then fought Mahishasura over a period of fifteen days during which he kept changing his shape to become different animals and misled her.

Finally, when he transformed into a buffalo, Goddess Durga stabbed him with her trident and that was the end of him.
