Chapter 1: The Beginning

Chelsie And The Haunted Mansion I Story By Aarav, 11, Bangalore

It was one stormy night when Chelsie, who was an abandoned boy, lost his parents in a bomb blast when he was all of 4. He had a difficult time going to school and living with his uncle and aunt when he turned 7. One night, many years later, when Chelsie had become a teenager and forgotten all about how he had lost his family, he turned off the lights and hit the bed. Suddenly, while his eyes opened, there was a big flash of light streaming in through the window. He said to himself, “What the heck is happening?”. At first, he thought it was just a stupid dream but it was not! A man with a long goatee, wearing golden clothes, appeared amidst the bright light that was flashing through the room and said, “You are the chosen one!” Chelsie surprisingly replied, “Come again?” and kept questioning until the man got mad and yelled, “Silence, boy! You are the protector and the hero of Kaustaman City, a place very diverse compared to this human land. It is your duty to fight back any extraterrestrial threat that plans to destroy the magnificent wonders of that city.” Chelsie was so confused that he asked the man whether he was human or not. The man replied sternly that he was an “alien” from a different dimension and that he came here through a “portal of light.” The man said that Chelsie’s training to become a protector and a hero would commence immediately. He took Chelsie through a portal, which led through the city.

Chapter 2: The Training

Chelsie was amazed once he set his eyes on Kaustaman City. The gardens, buildings, and technology were much more advanced than what was prevalent in Chelsie’s world. To his surprise, the training center was much more beautiful than the city. Before his training began, the governor of Kaustaman city came over to him and explained the issue of multiple attacks from their arch nemesis, the Ezeptos, a bunch of rogue and restless people who live in a haunted mansion. They looked like skeletons and devoured many souls who dared to arrive at their mansion. Their main aim is to conquer the great city of Kaustaman. The governor needed a champion and hero to bring an end to the Ezeptos—once and for all. Chelsie’s mentor said, ”You should first learn and test your reflexes.” He threw a bunch of blades at him to see if Chelsie could dodge them but Chelsie didn’t because he wasn’t even trying. The mentor then went easy on him by decreasing the number of blades and what do you know? He got it! The mentor went back to the original routine. Chelsie failed several times until he finally passed the test. Chelsie then had to move on to the second test of sneaking on someone. Chelsie had to sneak his way across the room without his mentor noticing him. Chelsie initially thought it was a piece of cake and that he could complete it within a second. However, he failed again because he was making creaking sounds on the floor. After several attempts, he cleared the test. The last and final step was sword fighting—the hardest part—which Chelsie felt like running away from. The goal was to touch the mentor with Chelsie’s sword and make sure that Chelsie didn’t get touched by the mentor’s sword. Once they got started, Chelsie got touched by the sword within a second. Again, the mentor was so mad that he felt like slapping Chelsie. After several attempts, Chelsie cleared the test. Chelsie was as tired as any person can be when, to his relief, the mentor finally said, “You are ready.”.

Chapter 3: Journey to the Haunted Mansion

When Chelsie was finally ready, the governor handed him a map and said, “In the middle of the mansion, there is a core shaped like a cube. The core is the life source of the Ezeptos; break that and immediately leave the mansion. Good luck, Chelsie!”. Chelsie set off on his journey towards the haunted mansion. He had to climb four mountains to get to his destination. Chelsie made the perilous journey without any hesitation.

Chapter 4: The Eseptos Empire

In the mansion, there lived a king and a menacing group of skeleton soldiers. The king’s advisor said: “Your majesty, I sense the presence of a warrior from Kaustaman city who plans on destroying us all by breaking our glass. The king angrily said, “It is a CORE, you idiot. Give him a nice warm welcome as he enters this mansion so that we can kill him smoothly.” After we kill him, we go after Kaustaman.”

Chapter 5: Face-to-Face with Eseptos

When Chelsie reached the haunted mansion, he found that the mansion was not the size he had anticipated. It was 10 times bigger! He, therefore, thought it was difficult to get to the middle and destroy the core. Once he stepped inside the mansion, the doors closed on their own. Chelsie felt the butterflies in his stomach. Chelsie then started hearing noises like booo and “I will kill you,” but he walked on like his mentor had taught him. A group of skeletons came behind him and tried to throw swords at him. Chelsie dodged the swords; all his training helped. Then he got his sword pulled out and the skeletons ran away. Chelsie kept walking to the core until he finally reached it. He was about to take it down when the king popped right in front of him and said, “Boy! You have made it this far just to break a core? You are just a normal human. You aren’t meant to be the chosen one. You have a choice: leave this world forever and go back to being a human or die from my  fury.” Chelsie bravely replied, “I CHOOSE NONE!”. He then swiftly jumped over the king and destroyed the core once and for all. The king angrily yelled, “Nooooooooo! You will surely pay for this action.” The king and the soldiers vanished, never to be seen again. Chelsie was so happy that he reached Kaustaman City within a minute.

Chapter 6: Chelsie’s Reward

Once Chelsie reached Kaustaman City, every citizen congratulated him on his victory, and the governor wanted to offer him a reward for being the ‘Hero of Kaustaman City’. The governor threw a lavish banquet in his honor. Chelsie said, “Thank you very much. I am honored to be a part of this. Thank you!”. The governor then made a portal to travel back to Cheslie’s world and said that he would surely get in touch with him if there was any trouble ever again. Charlie happily went through the portal and waved back at everyone before the portal closed. Then he jumped on to his bed and slept off.
