Independence Day Special : Thank you Shershaah
‘Shershaah’ was the codename of Captain Vikram Batra who was awarded Param Vir Chakra (posthumously) during the Kargil War for fighting the enemy on Pt. 4875. He also played a crucial role in winning Tiger Hill after an intense battle. After winning Tiger Hill, he said, “Yeh dil Maange More (This heart wants more),” which is quoted by people when they remember him even today.
I have read about him and also saw the biopic Shershaah about him starring Siddharth Malhotra. I have great admiration for the Captain and get motivated by him for the way he led a disciplined life to take on challenges. I want to follow in his footsteps and become an army officer by inculcating good values, being on my best behaviour, excelling in my studies, and keeping myself physically and mentally fit.
I am also motivated by the way he took care of his men whom he commanded. Despite the tense situation, he kept their morale high, made sure they got good food, had better living conditions and got timely leaves to be with family. He led his men from the front.
When I grow up, I would like to join the Indian Army and for me, like Shershaah, the interest of the nation will come first, wellbeing and welfare of my men second and my welfare and that of my family always last.
Jai Hind.

Great write up Jash. We should always remember the soldiers who gave their lives for the country.
I also remember his line “Yeh Dil mange More” which became a Tag line for the captain
