Agatha Christie : MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS – Book review
I am an avid reader and I love to read books. It’s hard for me to choose one, but if I have to pick one, I choose Christie’s book, ‘Murder On the Orient Express’ as my favourite.
Everyone knows Christie’s books are really interesting and once you pick them up, you can’t keep them down unless completed. But these were not my words before I had read Murder on the orient express.
This book was picked up by my book club owner as the book of the month, yet before reading the same I had several negative thoughts about the book, because I was reading Agatha Christie for the first time. And today I am a die hard fan of hers and can’t thank my book club owner, Avkirat ma’am more for introducing me to the “The Queen of Crime”.
The book is written in quite simple language except for a few French words and searching their translations to English and meanings was fun.
Although the train is fully booked, famous detective Poirot gets a second-class berth through his friend Monsieur Bouc’s help, director of the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits railway. Other passengers include Dr. Constantine; Mary Debenham; Mrs. Hubbard; Princess Dragomiroff, Hildegarde Schmidt; Greta Ohlsson; criminal Ratchett, Hector McQueen, Count and Countess Andrenyi; Antonio Foscarelli; among the few. A murder happens on the train and the book shows Poirot investigating the fellow passengers. With every interrogation I changed my mind as to who was the culprit. There are a few revelations and the end is quite a surprise.
This book indeed deserves to be known as one of the best works of Agatha Christie. I truly loved this book, also I recommend Agatha Christie books to ages probably 10+ for better understanding.
I give 5/5 stars on the scale of 5.
