A Little Break

Sometimes life gets too overwhelmed,

And all you crave is a little break.

I know it gets hard, things feel beyond your hands,

But that is when you need to slow down.

Sometimes, you want to give up,

And all you crave is a little break.

You might slow down academically,

But that is the sign- you were running too fast.

Sometimes you want to run far away,

And all you crave is a little break.

You feel drained- mentally and physically,

But that is the sign- you needed to give yourself some time.

Sometimes you just want to sit and cry,

And all you crave is a little break.

You want to pour your heart out and sob for hours,

But that is the sign- you forgot to pause in the journey of life.

Sometimes you just want to restart everything,

And all you crave is a little break.

You want to forget everything and begin from square one,

And that is the sign- you needed to slow down.

Sometimes you just want to be happy,

And all you crave is a little break.

Be happy for being,

Who you are for you, not who you pretend to be.

And that is the sign, you have put on the mask for too long now.

So, if life is being too harsh on you,

Take a little pause and slow down for a while .

Give yourself a little time to breathe,

Once you feel ready, go on and rise stronger than before!

Sometimes all you need is a little break…

Author’s Note:

[This is a short poem about the way the past few months of my life have unfolded. I went through a low point where things felt difficult, academics became more challenging, friendships took unexpected turns, and life seemed a little harder than usual.

Throughout those months, I found myself craving “A Little Break”—a chance to slow down, breathe, and gather myself again.

Now, after months of struggle and reflection, I finally feel ready to begin again: stronger, bolder, and with a little more hope…]
