A Cup Of Tea

It was a scorching day. The sun was shining brighter than ever. Suraj ran towards the nearby tree to get some cool shade, after all, it was hot! He sat down and wiped the sweat off his face. He looked to his left to see a tea shop. The aroma of tea leaves attracted Suraj towards the shop. He sat on one of the chairs and saw an old but charming man. He saw Suraj and gave a heart-warming smile. “It is quite hot out there. Due to this heat no one comes to sip the hot tea I make. People like eating ice-creams and sugarcane juice instead. You are my first customer of this summer. Order whatever you like.” Said the old man. Suraj immediately ordered some hot tea and biscuits. He didn’t even realise that it was really cool under the roof of this tea shop. The old man came back after some time with tea and biscuits on a tray. Suraj helped himself to some biscuits and sipped the tea. He was shocked after having one sip of the tea. It was magic! Suraj had never had such well prepared and sweet tea. He enjoyed his meal until the tea was finished. “How much was this, uncle” Suraj asked to the old man.

“15 rupees it is.” Replied the old man. Impossible! How could such fabulous tea ever be worth 15 rupees! Suraj checked his wallet. There was a sum of 1000 rupees in it. He took all of them out of his wallet and handed it to the old man. The old man refused to take such a big amount for one cup of tea. “This tea is not regular tea, uncle, it is magic. It is worth more than a thousand rupees. That is why I am handing u this much. He kept the money on the table and ran away so the old man could not return the money.

The tea had totally refreshed him, and he was in a better mood now. He decided to proclaim how good the tea was in the village. Soon many people started visiting the tea shop and its popularity increased drastically. Soon it was known by the whole city and people from other cities started visiting the tea shop too. Everyone likes the old man’s tea.

Whenever Suraj passes in front of the tea shop, the old man looks and smiled at him, signalling immense gratitude.

The Ramayana Guide To Practical Leadership | Ancient Case Studies, Modern Management Lessons

The Ramayana Guide to Practical Leadership approaches leadership through the original Valmiki Ramayana, reading it as a precise study of human decision making, responsibility, and conduct under pressure. Rather than treating the epic as a story or a source of moral instruction, the book examines specific situations as leadership case studies. Each chapter focuses on how leaders assess complexity, communicate intent, handle dissent, build trust, and act when outcomes are uncertain. The emphasis remains on behaviour, judgement, and accountability. Drawing on forty carefully selected episodes, structured as case studies, the book brings forward leadership lessons on communication, psychological safety, servant leadership, resilience, ethics, and strategic clarity. Sanskrit shlokas are presented with translation and context, allowing readers to engage with the original text without requiring prior familiarity. Written by a senior industry leader with decades of experience leading large, Tanishkaapplicable, and enduring. This is a guide for readers who want to think clearly, decide responsibly, and lead with purpose in real-world situations.
