With each man that came and went,

With each word spoken, each messenger sent,

Each breath held,

And each breeze felt,

Every house ever made,

My sweetest fruits and leaves and shade,

Each piece of paper ever marked,

Each fire ever sparked,

We give you all you ever want,

And with your saws and axes you haunt.

We let go of everything we had,

More than too happy to help, way too glad.

Food and air and wood for your huts,

And you went on, till each tree was cut.

Many birds, and animals and insects too,

All will perish because of you.

You showed no mercy even after we implored,

Now embrace your goodbyes to the fruits we bore.

Without a second thought, our barks you tore,

Heed me, eventually, you will be affected by this gore.

I pity you for your ungratefulness, I truly feel bad,

And you know that when we disappear, you won’t survive for a tad.

Me and my fellow trees stood tall and strong,

We held humanity together for so very long.

Now they are all gone, it’s just me,

I hope where you got it wrong you could see.

For what you had overseen, you shall pay,

Now my work is done, that is all I had to say.

Now I bid my farewell too, as the final bit of timber,
