The Clever Chipmunks

Once upon a time, there lived two chipmunks named Chip and Bill. They were very smart siblings. 

One night, Chip saw two thieves trying to enter their house. He was worried at first, but he had an idea. Chip called Bill and blinked his eyes as a signal. Then he said loudly, “Bill, I had a bad dream. What will we do if a thief comes to our house?”

Bill understood the problem and he replied loudly, “Don’t worry, Chip. I have buried all the valuable things in our garden. No one will find it.”

The thieves heard this. They went to the garden and started digging the ground silently. They dug and dug but could not find anything. They dug again and again until they got tired. Both the thieves fell asleep there only.

In the morning, Chip and Bill saw the thieves sleeping in the garden. They woke them up. The thieves were shocked to see the chipmunks. They begged the chipmunks saying, “Please forgive us. We will never try to steal anything from any house.”

Then Chip laughed and said, “That will be good for you. We should thank you for making a pond in our garden by digging all night. We were thinking of getting it done for a long time.”

The thieves ran away.

Moral: Think and act smart in difficult situations.
