Thank you teachers : Celebrating Teachers’ Day
A teacher;
Someone who dedicates their life to teaching
Who makes sure to practice what they are preaching
Who gives knowledge unconditionally
Who treats everyone impartially
A guru;
Someone who imparts not just knowledge
But wisdom too; which we almost never acknowledge
Who burns their own flame as they lend a spark
Who lights the way for us in the dark
A mentor;
Someone who guides the way
Who, no matter what, never lets us go astray
Who’s our beacon of hope as we drown in a sea
Of challenges; hearing our plea
A parent;
Who helps and holds wordlessly
Who sacrifices soundlessly and countlessly
The first guru; who teaches humanity
Empathy, respect, responsibility and generosity
All of you play different roles in my life
Help me through my periods of strife
All of you let me keep my head high
Let me know my limit is the sky
All of you are responsible for shaping me
Into the person I am today; who tries to be
The best I could possibly be; helping me remain
Kind, grounded and humane
