Nidar Neerja Bhanot I Poem By Palak

Known by world as ‘Heroine of the Hijack’ ,

She made the hearts of hijackers start cracking…

In Chandigarh, Punjab, in 1963 a guardian angel was born,

As the youngest Ashoka Chakra winner, to prove bravery isn’t worn.

Once from Mumbai to Karachi, on a Pan Am flight,

When it got hijacked, it became a horrible sight…

Seeing lives in danger, when everyone was fearing,

To go against wrong, a young girl was daring…

For more than 17 hours she fought for humanity,

Even when the countries were just showing loyalty…

In Israel, the hijackers wanted to crash the plane,

When she rescued the pilot by using her brain…

Being the senior of all, did crew members guide,

And to save Americans, she made their passports hide…

Thus by saving 300 lives, she is now an inspiration,

Bravehearted and courageous – her perfect definition…

While saving 3 children, she went on a long sleep,

Moving silently to a long journey, making every heart weep…

It was 5 September 1986, her last day due to gunshot,

This true soul is popularly called Nidar Neerja Bhanot…

She won Tamgha-e-Insaniyat and Justice of Prime Award,

The truest winning of lives and hearts without any sword…
