Leo And The Fairy
Leo was in his second grade. Every night he would snuggle in bed with a book in his hand. Ever since his mother read him a bed time story about a fairy who kept a watch on children, he had become extra vigilant. He could not even sleep properly at night. He wanted to meet the fairy. One night it was raining heavily and there were loud thunderclaps.

Leo woke up with a start and looked outside his window. Raindrops had collected on the electric cables hanging outside. Suddenly his eyes fell upon a tinycreature in a silver dress sitting on a raindrop. She had the prettiest face that Leo had ever seen. There something like a wand in her hand. Leo was sure she was a fairy.
As soon as their eyes met, the fairy smiled. The next moment the fairy was inside the room, although the glass windows were tightly shut. She looked at Leo and said “I know you wanted to meet me. Tell me what do you want to wish for?”
Without second thoughts Leo replied “I want to get full marks in all the subjects. But I hate studying.” The fairy was silent for a moment. Then she said “I will teach you the magic trick but you have to promise that you will not share this secret with anyone.” Of course, I will not even tell my best friend,” Leo promised.” Now listen to me carefully.

If you read your lessons 10 times each and practise 50 sums everyday, then the magic will work.”Saying this the fairy touched Leo’s head with her hand and disappeared.
This was not what Leo had desired. He wanted to get full marks without studying but he dared not disobey the fairy. He had read in stories that fairies can even curse people and turn them into something ugly if they get angry. So he followed the fairys advice sincerely. There were so many times that Leo wanted to talk to his best friend about this. But he was scared that if broke his promise the magic would not work. The fairy also came to check on him from time to time. At the end of the session, when the
results of the Final Term were declared, Leo was over the moon. He topped his class and got the first prize. His parents were very happy and they threw a grand party to celebrate their sons success. They arranged for all the food that Leo and his friends loved. Leo took a plate and filled it with food and kept it on the balcony for the fairy. He just wished the fairy would come. He wanted to thank her personally.
Leo did not have to wait for long. The fairy soon appeared before him. She was very happy at Leo’s gesture. Leo said “Thank you fairy. It is because of your magic that I have scored full marks in all the subjects.” The fairys eyes twinkled as she said “The magic was yours too.” Leo did not understand what the fairy meant. And he did not get a chance to ask the fairy for she disappeared suddenly and was never seen again. But the gift of her magic stayed with Leo. Today Leo is a University topper. He excels in whatever he does. But he has not forgotten his fairy friend. For every success he achieves, he writes a thank you note and sticks it on his window at night. And every time the note just disappears overnight.
