Echoes Of Us I Poem by Janisha, 13, New Delhi

The poem ‘Echoes Of Us‘ by Janisha Lohia, a 13-year-old from New Delhi, captures the most precious moments in life – the ones that linger in our hearts long after they’ve passed, the ones we wish we could relive forever.

Echoes Of Us I Poem by Janisha, 13, New Delhi

Echoes Of Us

I want to bottle the laughter from my younger days,
When scraped knees and cartoons lit up my ways.
Running barefoot, chasing clouds in the sky,
Believing in magic without asking why.

The sound of school bells, chalk on the board,
Lunchbox secrets and dreams we all stored.
The thrill of PT, that silent prayer line,
And that one friend whose hand felt like mine.

Classroom whispers, jokes no one else knew,
Last bench giggles, and friendships that grew.
That unforgettable farewell, eyes trying not to cry,
Hugs that held on like they’d never say goodbye.

The way we laughed until we couldn’t breathe,
Falling over each other, joy underneath.
Golden evenings with the people I love,
Like stars aligned just perfectly above.

The chaos of cousins, that midnight tea,
Whispers in beds, our minds wild and free.
Secrets passed like sacred treasure,
Moments too silly, too sweet to measure.

Then there was that one day so bright, so clear,
When everyone I love was somehow near.
A perfect meet-up, the kind we rarely find,
With full hearts, loud laughs, and peace of mind.

And just for a second, the world stood still,
Like time itself bent to our will.
In those minutes, I felt so alive,
Like forever had finally arrived.

But woven beneath these memories, gold,
Is the soft, sharp ache of growing old.
Because even the best days have to part,
Leaving quiet echoes in the heart.

And so I write, and so I dream,
To hold them close, these moments supreme.
Though time may steal what I once knew,
These memories stay warm, deep, and true.

So if ever the world feels too heavy to bear,
I’ll close my eyes and find myself there
In the laughter, the chaos, the hugs so tight.
Where everything once felt perfectly right.
