Childhood

When he was a child, Barack Obama lived in different places, including Hawaii and Indonesia. Seeing different countries and different kinds of people changed how he thought about the world. He liked reading, writing and speaking from a young age. These things later helped him when he became a leader.

School and College

Barack Obama went to Punahou School in Honolulu from fifth grade until he finished high school. After school, he first studied at Occidental College in Los Angeles. Later, he moved to Columbia University in New York City. There he read a lot and learned more about society and politics. After that, he went to Harvard Law School.
