What makes me a poet I Poem By Krisha, 14, Delhi

What inspires you to write? 14-year-old Krisha from Delhi writes a poem on what makes her a poet with so many new ideas for us to learn!

What makes me a poet I Poem By Krisha, 13, Delhi

What makes me a poet

What makes me a poet

Are they the incidents of natsukashii or yugen?

Or is it the coherence of my pen?

Raindrops around me or

Blackbird sitting on the tree

What makes me a poet is not so archetypal indeed

But often things aren’t the same as we see

And observing ethereal nuances is what we do as a poet you see

For those who aren’t graced by emotional intelligence,

poetry is nothing more than a couple rhyming stanzas

But for me as a thalassophile, poetry is my 7 seas

I am known for poetry lang syne

I am honored by the presence of poetry

If you want to rationalise life in your life,

bring poetry,

solve your life’s mystery.

*Natsukashii is a Japanese word used when something evokes a fond memory from your past.

*Yugen means an awareness of the Universe that triggers emotional responses too deep and powerful for words in Japanese.

*Thalassophile is a person who loves and is magnetically attracted to the ocean and the sea.
