Once I was watching a cricket match. I was of six years then. It was West Indies vs India in which Virat Kohli had hit an astonishing six which inspired me to become a Cricketer. He was the reason I was introduced to cricket soon by your father.
Early Childhood
Virat was born on 5 November 1988 in Delhi (into a Punjabi Hindu family). He completed his early education at Vishal Bharti Public School. His mother Saroj Kohli is a housewife and his father Prem Nath Kohli worked as a criminal lawyer. His training was first started by his father. When Virat was 3 years old, he used to pick up a bat and request his father to bowl a ball.
Training
Kohli was passionate about cricket in the subsequent years. He played gully cricket and later enrolled in the West Delhi Cricket Academy at the age of nine. At this Academy,his coach, Rajkumar Sharma observed his natural talent, dedication and competitive spirit.
Selection in the Indian Cricket Team
Later he was selected for Ranji Trophy and there was a scout where he saw Virat’s playstyle and he was selected for the Indian Team.
Achievements
Virat has several records under his belt.
- He is the fastest player to reach 8,000, 9,000, 10,000 and 11,000 runs in One Day Internationals.
- He has made the fastest centuries in ODIs.
- He broke the record of Sachin Tendulkar by reaching 50 centuries in ODIs.
- Virat has also been named as the Player of the Tournament in World Cup 2023.
