The Loyal Blood
In the 20th century, the most gruesome war known to mankind, ‘World War II’ took place. It affected the places of war, the people of the places, the people of the army and most importantly, created divisions in between the upcoming generations. The German kids whose fathers had fought in the war, along with the German children who were just…German by nationality, were discriminated against, separated from the theoretically ‘Good kids’ and were always picked on for their roots being from Germany.

And then there was little 6-year-old Leon Muller, whose father had lost his life in that gruesome battle. As a result of obvious financial conditions, his mother had to shift to Great Britain, where her parents used to live.
Unaware of the discrimination little Leon was about to face, he went to the ‘Bedford Institution’ with the absolute positive energy of meeting new people and starting a new life as a British boy. But upon being introduced to the students of the class, they gave a disgusted look and no one wanted to sit beside him except for a 7-year-old girl named ‘Lily Williams’. They both chatted for a while and became good friends; however, the other students of class didn’t even want to wave hi to Leon, as he was the ‘Bad Blood’. So, Leon just spent the day with Lily and returned home. Upon entering his house, his mom asked, “How was school, Leon?” to which he replied, “Mom, why were students pointing towards me and saying ‘Son of a Nazi’ and then laughing about it?”. His mom had realized how he was treated the entire time in school, and hence she said, “Oh, it’s nothing! Brit kids just like to joke around!”. However, Leon knew his mother was hiding something from him, but he didn’t force her as a sign of respect and trust.
School went on like this for about a month, but after that, an incident happened that proved that loyalty doesn’t lie in nationality; it lies in the heart. And that a good soul can compensate for five evil or dark ones. Bedford Institution had recently planned a field trip for the students of their school. So, little Leon decided to go on the field trip as well. He had sent a letter to Lily asking if she would come to the field trip, to which Lily wrote back by saying she was really sick and that she would not be able to go. Leon thought that as Lily would not be able to go on the trip, he should go and when he comes back, he should write a letter to her.
The day of the trip finally came, and little Leon was as excited as the other children were. Though Leon knew that he had to spend all the time alone, he still went on the trip with his friend, who was dear to him. The place was along a riverside and was really beautiful. All the other children were following their teachers’ instructions; however, a kid named James Watson was so mesmerized by the beauty of the place that he was not able to focus on anyone’s words. Slowly, he had started to walk away from the line and started to run towards the riverside. All the children were gone, except for Leon.

He followed James and realized he was going towards the riverside and when he reached it, he just sat down on his knees and stared at the beautiful scenery. But after some time, alas!
James had fallen into the water. Right at the moment, one of James’ friends noticed he wasn’t there and informed everyone. Suddenly they heard loud shrieks and they realized it was James’ voice. The teachers, along with the students, rushed to rescue him. However, by that time, without any second thought, little Leon had jumped into the water to save James! He successfully saved James and became a hero for everyone.
James, with all of his friends, came to mend friendship with Leon. And by performing such an act of heroism, he proved that ‘Bad Blood’ is nothing but just a stereotypical term used by regressive people. He went back home and wrote all of this to Lily, to which Lily replied positively and said, “See! A generous soul always remains a generous one!”. And thus, life again becomes a happy one!
