The Girl In The Parallel Universe

An 11-year-old girl named Ishika woke up from a deep, peaceful sleep. As her eyes fluttered open, she instantly realised something was off. This wasn’t her usual bedroom. The familiar posters on the wall, her favourite stuffed animals, and the soft pink curtains were nowhere to be seen. Instead, the room around her was strange and unfamiliar. A wave of fear washed over her, and she immediately called out, “Mom?!” But there was no answer. The house was eerily quiet, and her heart began to race.

Summoning all her courage, Ishika decided to investigate. She got out of bed, her feet touching the cold, smooth floor, and slowly made her way to the large window across the room. As she pulled back the curtains, her breath caught in her throat. The world outside looked nothing like what she knew. The sky, instead of its usual blue, was a strange, glowing green. The trees weren’t the earthy brown and green she was used to. They were entirely blue, with shimmering leaves that reflected the light like tiny mirrors. It felt like she had stepped into another world.

The more she looked, the more curious she became. Despite the initial fear, a sense of adventure sparked inside her. “Where am I?” she whispered to herself. With growing excitement, she decided to step outside and explore this strange place.

As she wandered through thes unfamiliar street, Ishika came across a girl around her age. The girl was dressed in a vibrant, shimmering outfit that looked nothing like what people wore back home. Ishika, trying to be brave, approached her and asked, “What’s your name?”

The girl smiled warmly and replied, “My name is Aila.” The name sounded different, just like the world around them. That’s when it hit Ishika—she wasn’t just lost in a new place; she was in a completely different universe. A parallel universe, to be exact. But instead of being scared, she felt thrilled. There was so much to explore, and Ishika’s curiosity had taken over her fear.

Feeling a sense of adventure, Ishika introduced herself to Aila and asked, “Can you show me around this new world?” Aila’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “Of course!” she said. “I’d love to show you all the wonders of our world.”

And so the two new friends set off on an extraordinary journey. They went to a “nedrag” (which Aila explained meant “garden” in their language). Unlike any garden Ishika had seen before, this one had flowers that floated in mid-air and plants that sang soft, melodious tunes. Next, they visited a place called “llam,” which turned out to be a massive, futuristic mall. It was filled with stores that sold items Ishika couldn’t have even imagined—like floating shoes and clothes that changed colour with a touch. They laughed and explored every corner of the llam before heading to the “hcaeb” (or beach). At this beach, the water was not blue but a sparkling green and the waves seemed to dance to their own rhythm. The sun above shone a soft purple light, making the entire scene look magical.

Finally, they visited the “tra yrellag” (art gallery), where paintings moved and sculptures seemed to breathe. The artwork in this world was unlike anything Ishika had ever seen, with colours and shapes that constantly shifted as you stared at them.

As they continued their exploration, Ishika couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of wonder. Everything in this world was so different, so vibrant, and so alive. But just as she was about to ask Aila more about the magical place they were in, a voice suddenly broke through her thoughts. “Ishika, don’t you want to go to school today?”

It was her mother’s voice. Ishika blinked and opened her eyes to find herself back in her own bed. The strange green sky, the blue trees, and Aila were all gone. She was back in her cosy room, with the soft pink curtains and the comforting sight of her stuffed animals.

Realising it had all been a dream, Ishika smiled to herself. Even though it wasn’t real, the adventure had felt so vivid and exciting. As she got ready for school, she couldn’t help but think about the dream world she had just visited. And as she headed out the door, she whispered to herself, “I hope I can visit that world again tonight.”
