The Earth We leave Behind I Poem By Aditi

The Earth We Leave Behind

Think, Feel, and Listen,

Watch the horizons and rain glisten,

Play in the nature, caress the wind,

Touch the soil, where time has thinned.

Hear Mother Earth weep-

Her sorrows and anger buried in the ground so deep.

Let go of yourself and let loose your thoughts,

Tune in the melody of Her heartbeats across.

We do not own the Earth, we belong to it,

And yet we do not perceive the crime we commit.

We must learn to share this beauty,

With our wildlife we shall perform this duty.

Sharing is something we can all learn;

Pollution, poverty, and crisis is our true concern.

We continue to harm our world under the name of “development,”

However we are just ruining our elements.

Development doesn’t mean destroying our planet;

It’s like a canvas and palette.

Use all the paint in just a few strokes,

And we’ll have nothing leftover for the future folks.

The ones who come after-

with the fantasies in their eyes-

Will be left staring at gray, empty skies.

Their dreams made of echoes,

their futures unsure,

In ruins they’ll search for what we failed to cure.

This Earth is our only home;

We should nurture and nourish.

With our help only can the Earth can flourish.

If this task is left incomplete-

Life’s breath will falter, beauty choke,

Hope will fade in every oak.

The Earth’s last breath will not be whispered in vain;

It will thunder through mountains and howl in the rain.

Her future is ours, a legacy vast and wide-

To save or to lose, the choice we cannot hide.

Note by Author

Earth is our only home. We do not own the Earth, we belong to it. In the name of development, we are not building the future, but are rather burying it. If we do not listen to her whispers and please now, we will have to bear the pain of hearing her screams later. If do not protect the Earth in time, our future generations will be left seeing the dark silence, where divine beauty once lived.
