Snatched Crowns & Shared Hearts
By Divyanshi Mishra
I was the star of every song,
The one they held when days felt long.
Their eyes would shine just seeing me,
Their world was mine – so wild and free.
But then one day, a baby’s cry,
Soft as a whisper, yet passed me by.
‘Shivanshi’ came with giggles sweet,
And suddenly, I felt… incomplete.
No longer first to get the hug,
No bedtime tales beneath the snug.
I smiled outside, but deep inside,
A storm of silence I couldn’t hide.
And just when I thought I’d fade away,
Another cry came home to stay.
‘Rudransh’ – so tiny, warm, and new,
My world had changed – not just by two.
I watched them sleep, I watched them grow,
Sometimes with tears they’d never know.
But something soft began to bloom,
A bond that melted every gloom.
Her fingers found my tangled hair,
His smile would sparkle just to stare.
They reached for me with trust so wide,
And suddenly, I felt… alive inside.
Then came the days when the world stood still,
Covid wrapped time in a silent chill.
No school, no parks, no friends to meet,
Just memories echoing down the street.
Yet I was never truly alone,
Our laughter built a second home.
We danced in rooms, we sang in light,
We made each other’s dark days bright.
We fought like clouds that never stay,
But loved like skies at end of day.
Now I don’t crave to be the “one” –
I am their moon, and they’re my sun.
So if you ask what changed in me?
From hurt to hope – from “I” to “we”.
Their little hands, their shining eyes,
Taught me love that never denies.
And yes – they are monsters, I won’t lie,
They steal my snacks and make me cry!
But they’re the cutest beasts I’ve met,
My tiny chaos – my sweetest threat.
I’ve learned the art with minor scars,
Of living with two pint-sized stars.
So here I stand – proud big sis, unshaken –
Monster-trained, and vaccinated.
