About The Author

Anusha Krishnan is a science writer and editor based in Bengaluru, where she shares her home with her husband, two spectacularly opinionated daughters, and a dog who believes she is the real
protagonist of every family story. After earning a PhD in Ecology and Molecular biology from the Indian Institute of Science, Anusha decided that explaining science to people was far more fun than conducting experiments at 3 a.m.
Her work has since appeared in outlets such as Mongabay India, Roundglass Sustain, IndiaBioscience, and The Wire Science, where she writes about ecology, biodiversity, climate, and the many strange and wonderful things that organisms get up to when humans aren’t looking. When she isn’t writing, Anusha can usually be found wandering around her terrace garden, staring intently at insects who did not sign up to be observed, or photographing the flora and fauna of her apartment complex like an overenthusiastic urban naturalist that she believes herself to be. Her neighbours have learned not to be alarmed when she crouches under a shrub with her phone: she’s probably just trying to focus on a caterpillar for a clear shot.
Anusha writes because she believes science is not only important, it’s endlessly entertaining, occasionally absurd, and always full of surprises. She hopes her stories encourage readers to pause, look around, and find delight in the vibrant, chaotic, and eccentric natural world that surrounds us all.
