Sally and the black cat

Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Sally. She loved going to the park and eating 3 scoops of ice cream every weekend (no less, no more), but she was scared of animals. The next day, Sally had gone to her friend’s house to eat dinner.

“Oh no!” cried Sally, seeing a black cat in her friend’s house. She was terrified! She went inside hesitantly, shuddering with fear, and called, “Lia! Lia!” Lia came running down the stairs and asked, “What happened, Sally?!” “Well, I am just scared of cats and dogs, especially black cats!” replied Sally. “Don’t worry, my cat, Churro, is the sweetest cat ever!” said Lia. Sally laughed. “Churro is such a cute name.” Lia further explained, “Moreover, Churro loves churros! You get her a churro, and she will be your pal.”

Sally said that she didn’t like the cat because her mother had told her that black cats give bad luck if they or you cross their path.

Lia told her, “Not all cats are bad luck, especially if it’s your pet and is a gentle and sweet animal like my Churro.” Lia encouraged Sally to pet Churro and befriend her. Sally got enough courage and did it! She didn’t get bitten. She got a lick and a purr.

Later, she also threw her a cotton thread ball, and Churro fetched it like dogs do. Lia and Sally spent the entire evening playing with Churro, and they all had a jolly good time.

Moral: No matter what, don’t be scared. Don’t blindly believe in superstitions. Animals are just like us. If you harm an animal, it will harm you as well.

Petrified: It means to be extremely frightened, perhaps so frightened that you cannot think or move.

Terrified: Thrown into a state of intense fear.

Shuddering: You shake with fear, horror, or disgust, or because you are cold.

Churros: It is from Spain and is quite sweet because it is made from dough and is coated with sugar on top.

Courage: It is the quality shown by someone who decides to do something difficult or dangerous, even though they may be afraid of it.
