Operation Sindoor Through My Eyes – A Child’s Voice for Courage

“Operation Sindoor – Because every life in India matters.”

I am Shyla Pandey and I am 9 years old. I love reading about India, our brave soldiers, and all the things that make our country proud. One such moment was Operation Sindoor. When I first heard about it, I didn’t know much. But after reading more and asking my parents and teachers, I understood how important it was. In this essay, I want to share what I learned and what I feel, in my own little words.

Operation Sindoor

Operation Sindoor was a special mission carried out by the Indian Air Force on the night of 6–7 May 2025. It happened after a very sad incident in April, where many people lost their lives in a terror attack in Pahalgam. India decided that we could not stay silent anymore. So, our brave air force flew across the border and destroyed nine terrorist camps where dangerous plans were being made. The operation was very fast, finished in just 23 minutes, and more than 100 terrorists were stopped. But the most amazing thing is — no innocent people were hurt. That’s how smart and careful our soldiers were. They showed the world that India can protect its people without harming others.

Motivation

The name “Sindoor” has a deep meaning. It is a red powder that many Indian women wear as a symbol of love, respect, and protection. By naming the operation “Sindoor,” our country gave a strong message — that India is like a family, and anyone who tries to hurt our family will not be allowed. Sindoor also represents dignity and strength. I think this name was chosen to show that we are peaceful, but also powerful. Just like a mother becomes a lioness when her child is in danger, India also became strong to protect her people.

Two major strengths

I was very inspired to know that even women played important roles in Operation Sindoor. One of them is Colonel Sofiya Qureshi. She helped in sharing India’s message with the world. She explained our side with confidence and truth. The second is Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, who was part of the Air Force team that shared the operation details. She showed how our forces planned everything carefully and bravely. These women are examples of courage and wisdom. They made me believe that girls can be pilots, commanders, and heroes too!

Message given by this operation –

Through Operation Sindoor, India showed that we will no longer stay quiet when someone attacks us. We believe in peace, but peace doesn’t mean weakness. India said clearly — “We will not allow terrorism to grow. We will stop it, even if it hides far away.” It was not about revenge, it was about justice and safety. India also showed that we are now confident and can take bold steps without fear. The whole world watched and respected how India handled the situation.

As a child, my thought behind this

I may be just 9 years old, but I understand what it means to stand up for what is right. I feel proud of my country. I feel proud of our soldiers who protect us day and night. I also feel happy that women are now leading and becoming role models for children like me. Operation Sindoor taught me that when something wrong happens, we should not stay silent, but need to change our defence policy. We should act wisely, bravely, and kindly. I want to grow up and do something good for my country too — maybe as a doctor, a teacher, or even an Air Force officer!

Like Operation Sindoor, I will always stand for truth and courage! Jai Hind!
