Ocean I Poem by Sneha Gunjan Javia ,13, Rajkot

We all wonder how deep an ocean would be. Sneha Gunjan Javia, a 13-year-old from Rajkot, writes one such inquisitively deep poem.

Ocean

She saw a wave rising on the horizon.

Approaching the sand with its’ crown held high,

radiating grace and power.

She watched it come towards her.

slowly, slowly dying out.

When it crawled up to her feet, it was a mere caress.

“What tamed you, dear ocean? she called out.

“Nothing. Nothing ever tamed me, dear girl,” the ocean whispered back.

The words echoed in her head until the wind carried them away.

And all that was left was…

Silence.

She looked at the distant waves, longing for their touch.

Her heart wants to explore the ocean’s depth.

Her eyes wanted to see its beauty.

As the sun sank into the waters,

Its’ heat is downed by the water.

She turned to leave.

“I will come again,” she promised.

“One day, I will let your waves carry me away.”
