My Puja Vacation

This is an essay about my Puja vacation in 2024. I went to a town near Kolkata called Barrackpore, where my grandmother stays. I went with my brother and mother. We stayed for a couple of weeks. It was a lot of fun. 

The shops over there were a lot different than here in Bangalore. There are a lot of traditional bazaars, while in Bangalore there are mostly supermarkets. In Barrackpore, the traditional market that I went to, which is called Shanti Bazaar, was very spread out. There were many good smells.

I loved it there. My brother and I played a lot with my grandmother. We went pandal hopping for a couple of days. These are some of my favourite parts:

We ate a very special pizza called Domino’s Cheese Volcano extra cheesy pizza. It literally had a volcano of cheese in the middle. I almost completed reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. It is my favourite book until now.

I taught my brother to draw a self-portrait, which was a lot easier than I thought. I slept with my brother, which I never got to do.

My grandmother gave me a blue, small suitcase and my brother a yellow and black Batman toy laptop. We both loved our gifts. The best part is that when we came home, my father, who had not come to Kolkata with us, got people to paint the whole house. It looked super cool. These are the colours that were painted: blue and morning glory or white in the living room, blue on the TV wall and white on the other walls, and orangish white in the main bedroom and guest bedroom. At first, my brother thought that this was not his house but later on, he got used to his new house. 

Shortly after we came, my cousin’s brother’s family came to Bangalore, living in a house just beside mine. My brother at first did not play that much but later on they became very good friends.

I loved this vacation a lot!
