Mrs. Universe Computer
A person or a woman,
Same thing but different.
By their genders
A Person can be both;
Male and Female.
A woman is only a female.
Well, the human being
I’m talking about was a
A woman born on
August 26, 1918.
An American mathematician.
Her name was Katherine Johnson.
She started with Math,
But then geometry
Opened her intelligence wider,
Making her an enthusiast of
Both Science and Math.
She calculated and analyzed
The flight paths of many spacecrafts.
She worked in NASA,
She helped NASA
Send astronauts to the moon,
And return them back to the Earth-
Which is their home sweet home.
Katherine overcame
Racial and gender hurdles,
That helped make giant hops
For humankind.
There is one unique thing about her –
When she was only 15
She graduated with honors.
At the age of 18,
She taught Black students Math
And broke down barriers.
In a world where doors were shut,
she knocked and knocked
And then opened them
For others to follow.
Her work was invisible to most.
But without her, the stars might not have aligned
For history to shine so bright
She didn’t seek fame,
She sought truth in numbers.
Guiding rockets, reaching for the sky
Her legacy is not just in the equations
But in the courage to defy
She proved that a woman, a Black woman,
Could write her own future
And chart a path
For generations to come.
Her name, Katherine Johnson
Will echo through time forever.
