Moving Beyond Magic I Poem By Arika, 10, Faridabad

10 year old  Arika Bhatia from Faridabad writes a beautiful poem about love between mother and son. Gopal’s thoughtful gestures and simple acts of kindness towards his mother and in return he getting sweet as a reward reminds us of the happiness and pride that come from making a loved one feel special.

Moving Beyond Magic

With hollow pits of hunger cooking deep in my stomach

I overheard two people talking about magic, dragons and fantasy

But for me fantasy means something different and unique

As I pushed through the piles of plastic waste and food remains

I search for my magical object

Didi I found a special thing!

What is it Gopal, i am helping mama for cleaning

Really? then this will help

A wiper for the floor

Wow this is amazing, mother will be so proud

She will puff up her chest and say these exact words

“Did you know my son got me a gift”

What?  her friends will ask

“My son gopal got me a wiper “

Her friends will keep on and on chattering about how good am I

Yes you will be the kindest boy this town has ever seen

Though you don’t seem very happy its like you are sad

Why so

Its just that i wasn’t able to get any toys

My friends would laugh at me

Don’t worry about them

Would they be getting moms homemade pickles ?

I am pretty sure the answer is no

Plus you would be mothers hero

So let’s go and give it to her

Mother i have a gift for you

Something special and magical

Just the thing you would wish

What is it Gopal ?

A wiper !

Is it ?

Yes it is .

Now your back wont hurt

Thank you Gopal

Today you wont just get pickles you would also get ladoos

Ladoos! Yes!
