The Missing Horse Mystery

Once upon a time, there was a kind farmer named Mandy who had six beautiful horses. One sunny morning, he decided to take all of them to visit his nephew, Vandy, who had been begging to ride a horse.

Sam didn’t want to leave any horses behind, so he hopped on one and led the other five, their hooves clopping happily along the dusty trail.

As they trotted through the fields, Mandy thought, “Better make sure all my horses are here!” He jumped off his horse, counted, “One, two, three, four, five, six!” and grinned. “All here!” He climbed back on and continued, the horses prancing behind him.

Later, under the blazing sun, Sam wanted to count again, but it was too hot to get off.

Sitting on his horse, he counted, “One, two, three, four, five!” He gasped. “Only five? Where’s the sixth horse?”

He counted again—still five! Panicking, he tried one more time, but no luck. “Oh no, I’ve lost a horse!” he cried.

Finally, Sam hopped down and counted carefully. “One, two, three, four, five… and six!”

He laughed, slapping his forehead. “Silly me! I forgot to count the horse I was riding!”

When Mandy reached Vandy’s house, his sister asked, “Why are you so late?” Mandy chuckled, “It’s a funny story!” and told her about his counting mix-up. Then he took Vandy, who was bouncing with excitement, to the horses. “First lesson, Vandy,” Mandy said with a wink, “Never count your horses while sitting on one!”
