Lionel Messi: Argentina’s Pride and Football Legend
Lionel Messi is one of the most felicitated football players. His name has become legendary in the world of football.
Early Life and Career Beginnings
He was born to Argentinian parents on the 24th of June in 1987 in Rosario. He began his football career at a very young age. To continue his career he relocated to Spain, Barcelona. In Spain he joined Barcelona at the age of 13. He made his stunning debut aged 17. Five years later, in 2009, at 22 years of age he unexpectedly won his first Ballon O’dr, a prestigious prize in football.
He won four more in consecutive years.
Early Achievements and Global Recognition

Even before this he had a reputable and high status. He had won the FIFA World Youth Championship in 2005. His prestige was boosted even more as he received the golden ball and golden shoe in that season as well. He also achieved an Olympic gold medal in the Summer Olympics of 2008.
After his first two Balon o’dr he made another great achievement. In the Olympics of 2011-2012 he scored most goals in a single season.
In the same two years he was listed as the 100th most influential person in the Time Magazine.
Record-Breaking Career and Leadership
He went on to become the top goal scorer of Barcelona. In 2018 he was bestowed captainship of Bacelona. He won his sixth, seventh and eighth Ballon O’dr in 2019, 2021 and 2023 respectively.
Inspiration for Future Generations
His success and story shall continue to inspire the youth of today’s world to take up football as a career or just a hobby.
