In this poetry, Shay, a 12-year-old from Kolkata, talks about the importance of leisure time. From reading books, baking, watching cricket and painting. He talks about how being busy in our day-to-day life has drifted us away from nature and how important it is to take time away.
Leisure
Our free time is called leisure,
Where we do what gives us pleasure.
Leisure time is for reading books,
Whiles hiding in crannies and nook.
When I don’t have anything to study,
I plant trees with my hands, becoming muddy.
I help my mom in the kitchen and bake,
For that, she always bakes me a cake.
I like watching a match of cricket,
To watch at home, I don’t need a ticket.
I love to play and use paints,
Seeing the mess, my mom usually faints.
We are all so busy with our lives,
That we do not have time to look at bees and flies.
