Interfaith Harmony & Peace I Blog By Maira M Hashmi
We all belong to different religions and regions with different customs and traditions but we should not let this create disharmony or hatred between us. As we know India stands strong with unity in diversity In this entry, I would like to share what I learned from the event at my school (Fr. Agnel Noida)- Agnel Jayanti 2026 this year, 21st January, which followed the theme “God’s Voice Heard in Diverse Ways.” This captured the moral of spiritual unity explained inspiringly by the chief guest speaker, Sadhvi Ruchika Bharti
First thing first, we all have faith in God, Moreover we are the people of India and to top it off, we are all human beings. This is what unites us despite our diverse ways.
So we should not create hatred, instead respect everyone which builds harmony, peace and love. Ma’am Sadhvi talked about God being referred to as divine light in all the religious and sacred books. She also talked about opening the third eye, which is a symbol for our consciousness. Opening our eyes means being more mindful and conscious, being open-minded.
Learning from the 1st demonstration:
Different shapes of circles have different diameter/radius, circumference and area but there is one common factor in those circles and that is pi (π) [circumference of circle = 2πr, area of circle = πr2]. And pi π is known with different names and symbols throughout the world or historic regions (Archimedes’ constant, Ludolphian number, etc). Similarly people believe in God in diverse ways, have diverse customs, traditions and origins. But they have a common factor of humanity in them and so stay united.
2nd demonstration:
A ball was kept in a sock inside a box; few students who volunteered were given a blindfold and were told that it was a pet, they had to guess the pet by sense of touch. None realized it was not a pet until they removed the blindfold. Ma’am Sadhvi wanted to explain through this that often times people are too blinded by their ego to seek out the truth so we need to open our eyes and see the reality. We should practice mindfulness and peace by breathing exercises. It was explained that as we know, the pulse is considered the life source and an indication of health
We should practice respiration by taking deep breaths and meditation to feel the pulse, This practice brings us closer to God This improves focus, it makes us feel relaxed during a hectic day, and it also takes away stress as we calm down.
Let’s be respectful of others and spread peace and harmony
Thank you
