Hainka – Whispers of the Wild
Hainka
A ‘Hainka’ is a style of poetry which involves the mélange of a Haiku, and a Tanka.
A Spiderweb
As a black web sways,
The spider’s art of weaving,
In threads’ silver gleam.
When a wind drifts past,
Caught in its thin, fragile, threads,
As a black web sways,
Once perfect threads start to break,
The web fades away, gently.

A Starry Night
A starry night glows,
Shining with the sky’s jewels,
Nature’s work of art
Days are passing by,
Carrying smoke in the still air,
A starry night glows,
Haze engulfs the shining sky
Stars fade away forever.

Dear Aisha,
I am thrilled to read your ‘Hainka’ : a fusion of haiku and tanka with the fragment part of haiku repeated as pivot line of the following tanka. I created the form in 2016. You may read the essay on Hainka available on google.
You have attempted the new form so beautifully. You please write the haiku and tanka in lowercase without any comma or full stop in between.
If you wish you may just mention my name in the “Whispers of the Wild.”
You have titled the haika. Well it is fine. I wrote them as titleless.
My blessings with you in your poetic journey.
