Exploring the Dark
Rohan was a little boy of eight years who was scared of the dark. When it was night-time, Rohan always wanted the lights on. He even hated watching horror movies. He thought the dark was full of scary things like spirits. His friends, Aman, Vihaan and Meena, knew about his fear and ridiculed him every time.

Haunted House
One day, the frexcitediends heard about an old house near their neighbourhood. People said it was haunted. They became and said, “Let’s go and see the house!” They invited Rohan to join them. Rohan was reluctant to go because he was scared. But he didn’t want his friends to laugh at him, so he said yes.
Inside the old house, it was dark and quiet. The door made a loud creaking sound when they entered. Shadows moved on the walls, and the wind made strange noises. Rohan turned pale and shivered terribly. He stayed close to his friends. But Aman, Vihaan, and Meena laughed wickedly at him.
They remarked, “Don’t be so scared, Rohan! Are you a kid to be scared of the dark?”
This made Rohan feel sad and embarrassed. That night, he narrated to his parents what happened at the house.
His parents said, “It’s okay to feel scared. It doesn’t mean you are weak. But sometimes, you have to face your fear.”
The Dare
On Halloween, the friends gave Rohan a dare. They said, “Enter the haunted house alone! If you are not scared, prove it.”
Rohan was nervous, but he wanted to show his friends he was brave. He said, “I will do it.”
That night, Rohan went to the house with a small flashlight. The door creaked loudly, and he felt scared again. But he kept walking step by step. He noticed the shadows on the walls. Then he looked closer and observed they were just tree branches outside the window. The strange noises were only the wind blowing. Rohan smiled and thought, “The house is not scary after all!”

One step a time
He walked around the house and felt braver with every step.
When he stepped out, his friends were waiting for him to mock him.
They looked surprised. “You did it!” they said. “You are so brave!”
Rohan was happy that he had overcome an irrational fear that night.
From that day, Rohan was not so scared of the dark.
MORAL: Fear can be overcome with one step a time. Sometimes, it is just a figment of our imagination.
