Embracing Neurodiversity: Building a Better India

To me, a better India is a society that embraces neurodiversity and promotes inclusivity, providing support and accommodations for people on the autism spectrum.

This change should start right in schools; we need to understand their unique ways, normalise stimming, and avoid forcing eye contact.

All ways of communication must be acknowledged; typing must be an option for those who find it difficult to write.

We need to create an environment where awareness and acceptance replace sympathy and misconceptions. The change must come from us.

A better India for me is the one that ensures that people with autism lead a happy life with dignity and respect and are valued for the person they are.
