Da Vinci Code By Dan Brown

The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown was a bestselling novel and arguably the best in existence. Although most people have read it or at least heard about it, I feel like I have to express my opinion on this BRILLIANT book.

The treasure hunt begins when a man, the Louvre curator Jacques Saunière, is fatally shot in the Louvre Museum. Before dying, he poses himself in the posture of the Vitruvian man painted by Da Vinci. Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon, who was in France for a lecture at the time, is summoned. He tries to make sense of the cryptic message left for the police scribbled beside the body. Sometime later, a French police cryptologist, Sophie Neveau, approaches him. She informs him that the full text was not shown to him. The line he was not shown implies that he is the killer. Sophie thinks otherwise. She thinks the P.S.’ in the line stating to find Robert Langdon is not a postscript but her childhood nickname, Princess Sophie. It is also revealed that she is the granddaughter of Saunière.

Together, they pull off a daring escape from the Louvre, eluding the French police, who think Robert is the murderer. Langdon and Sophie, while escaping, follow a trail of clues scattered around the Louvre. They are plunged into a breakneck race against an enigmatic enemy for whatever lies on the other end of the puzzle.

Will they find the historical treasure and truth and survive to reveal them?

I shall not divulge further and leave it to the potential readers to explore and feel the ambience of the book.

Dan Brown’s beautifully written, fast-paced and extremely brain-racking story is an absolute favourite of mine. The third-person narrative is very fitting for this story. It allows the author to peek into all the character’s thoughts, while the first-person and second-person narratives would not. Dan Brown wonderfully hypes up our interest in the story before the climax. Personally, the last few chapters sent me reeling. The twist at the end was absolutely unexpected and made the ending more impressive.

I would advise you to keep yourself in the dark about the plot before reading the book. It is not necessary to do any prior research on the topic, as the facts are stated at the beginning of the book.

I would recommend everyone over 10 years of age with an interest in a fast-paced, extremely brain-racking and thrilling book to read The Da Vinci Code.

I want to rate Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown a 6 out of 5 but that is not possible in the rating system so it shall receive a 5 out of 5 rating (5/5).

RATING- 5/5 (but deserves a 6/5)
