Bookstores, in general, are our family’s favorite! My Amma, Aachi, and Thaatha are avid readers. We visit book fairs, literature fests, book reading events and any such activity which is related to books.
Recently, I began reading anime books. When we couldn’t find a few anywhere, Amma called many shops that sold rare and collectible books. It was the Bookworm store. Krishna Uncle who owns the store, was very sweet to source all the books we wanted. Not only that, he even suggested a few books to Amma and me that we loved reading.

Krishna uncle, famously known as the “Bookman of Bengaluru” a very apt title, I consider, is a down-to-earth person who even sent across a few books via Dunzo when we couldn’t pick them up in person. He even has a documentary by The New Indian Express in his name that I would recommend everyone to watch.
I attended the book release of Extra, a children’s book written by my mentor and award-winning author Archana Ma’am, at Bookworm. It was arranged beautifully! And what better place to select for a book release event than the iconic bookstore of Bangalore. Amma shared sweet memories of how she used to visit Church Street with her friends and go to the Bookworm store often to pick her favorite books and the author-signed copies are her most cherished possessions, she says!
One day, we received an email from Bookosmia, saying we were invited to a children’s day celebration, where child writers are recognized and felicitated! To my surprise, the event was held at the same iconic Bookworm!
We were all delighted and had a fantastic day celebrating young writers by Bookosmia, cheered on by friends and family at Bookworm!

I had so much fun running around the store with my friends, and it was almost like a treasure hunt when each of us found our favorite book that we wanted to read for a while. When we were done and about to leave, Krishna uncle asked me to sign a few copies of my book that were kept for sale at the store. I saw my Amma’s eyes were filled with happiness.

We all clicked pictures and bid adieu with a bag full of books to read.
Imagine bookworms crawling out with a bag of books! Haha, Bookworm indeed is a favorite spot for all the bookworms, tiny and big. So now you know whom to ask when you need a book! Hope you also visit the store sometime soon and pick your favorite books.
