Bengaluru Namma Metro Yellow Line : A joyride to remember
Yellow Line of Namma Metro
Imagine this, after months of delay and what seems like forever. The years ticked by – 2023, 2024 but it was the sparkle of hope that 2025 was the year in which something which took so long and had everybody hyped would finally come to life. If you live under a rock and don’t know what this is all about, then listen up! This all describes one particular thing, the opening of the Yellow Line of Namma metro in Bangalore on August 10 2025.
I cannot believe that it finally opened! The fact of the matter is, the original opening date was to be December 2022! We have come a long way since then, from geopolitical tensions to train sets not arriving as expected, this has been a long journey even before the actual journey had started!
Bangalore’s Metro

Bangalore was the 3rd city to develop a metro system, after Delhi and Kolkata. Bangalore metro opened in 2011 with the first trains from Byapanahalli to MG Road. The metro has come a long way since then with 3 lines(Purple from Whitefield to Challaghata, Green from Madavara to Silk Institute and Yellow from RV Road to Bommasandra) and over 70 stations now and more to come in the future. This makes it the 2nd largest metro in India with 96.1km of track being laid.

The Yellow line is the newest addition to this line up. It consists of 16 stations. It currently has one interchange(station where you can change to a different line) station in RV Road which connects to the Green Line. In the future, this line will also have interchanges with the Pink line at Jayadeva Hospital and Blue line at Central Silk Board. These lines are currently set to open in March 2026 and December 2026 respectively. This line mainly serves the IT Hubs near Electronic City.

A major station on this line is the Infosys foundation Konappa Agrahara station which was funded by Infosys company and is supposed to be the most high tech station in Bangalore metro.

After reading all this, I knew I wanted to get my own experience for this line, so I went on this line and it is one of the best experiences. The seats are very clean, the ride was smooth and it felt nice to look at the stations. The station concourses and platforms are beautiful and well maintained. The metro, however has long wait times of currently 19 minutes due to lack of trainsets although soon it will reduce to 15 minutes. In the end, once all trainsets arrive, it will be 5-6 minutes between trains. The cost of travelling on the line ranges depending on your starting station but it will usually be within ₹70 to ₹90 range for a one way journey.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Yellow line is a great line to travel especially if you are a metro enthusiast. One tip I will give is to not travel at 8AM or 5PM as those are peak times of the metro.
Hope you too get to enjoy the metro ride. Happy journey!
