Ashoka’s Last Message

Ved and Mihir sat in their Grade 6 history class, listening to their teacher, Ma’am Swagata, talk about Emperor Ashoka. “He was a warrior king who transformed into a ruler of peace,” Ma’am Swagata explained.

Ved, always curious, raised his hand. “ma’am, do you think Ashoka left behind any hidden messages?”

Ma’am Swagata chuckled. “If he did, it would be the discoveryof the century! Now, let’s turn to page 42.”

Mihir, however, was more focused on the tiffin box under his desk. “Do you think history would be more fun if Ashoka had shared a recipe for samosas instead?” he whispered to Ved, who shook his head with a smile.

After school, Ved and Mihir hurried to the library. Ved had read about an old inscription hidden beneath one of Ashoka’s pillars. “If there’s a secret, it has to be in one of these books,” Ved said, pulling out a dusty history journal.

Mihir, on the other hand, was flipping through a cookbook instead. “What? I need to be prepared in case our adventure takes too long,” he said defensively.

Just as Ved was about to close a book, a piece of paper fluttered out. It was an old note with strange markings. “This… this looks ancient!” Ved exclaimed. Mihir, suddenly more interested, leaned in. “Does it lead to a secret treasure? Or maybe a hidden stash of sweets?”

Ved laughed. “Only one way to find out!” And that was when their real journey began.
In the heart of modern-day India, under the bright lights of a bustling city, 11-year-old, Grade 6 student Ved discovered an old scroll hidden beneath an Ashokan pillar. The scroll spoke of a secret—a final message from Emperor Ashoka.

One evening, as Ved tried to decode the ancient script, the air around him shimmered. A deep voice echoed, “Seek the gateway of Dharma. The past calls you.”

Chapter 2: The Awakening

That night, Ved had a dream. He saw a giant spinning wheel and a glowing temple. A kind-looking sage with a golden staff stood before him. “You have been chosen,” the sage said. “Ashoka’s wisdom must be found.”

Ved woke up to find his tablet flashing. The translation had changed, revealing mysterious coordinates—leading to the Himalayas!

Chapter 3: The Journey

Ved paced in his room, staring at the mysterious coordinates on his tablet. “If we tell our parents, they’ll never let us go,” he muttered.

Mihir, on a video call with a plate of parathas in front of him, nodded. “Yeah, especially my mom. She won’t even let me skip breakfast!”

Ved grinned. “Then we have to go without telling them.”

That night, the boys packed their bags—Ved filled his with notebooks, a flashlight, and a compass, while Mihir stuffed his with snacks. Sneaking out was easy, but catching the midnight bus to the mountains felt like the real adventure had begun.

Ved and Mihir trudged through the snowy trails of the Himalayas, their breath forming small clouds in the freezing air. “Are we lost?” Mihir asked, shivering.

Ved checked the tablet. “We should be close. The coordinates point to somewhere ahead.”

Just then, a strong gust of wind blew, and Mihir’s snack bag went flying. “Nooo! My samosas!” he wailed, running after them. In his panic, he slipped on the ice, pulling Ved along with him. They tumbled down a slope and landed in a thick forest, completely off track.

Shaking off the snow, Ved groaned. “Now we’re definitely lost.”

Mihir sighed. “At least I saved one laddoo.” He took a bite as Ved inspected their surroundings.

Suddenly, Ved noticed strange carvings on a tree. “Look! These symbols match the ones on Ashoka’s scroll. We might be on the right path after all.”

Following the markings, they discovered an ancient stone bridge leading to a cave entrance hidden behind a waterfall. Mihir hesitated. “Are we sure about this? Because this looks like the kind of place where adventurers disappear.”

Ved grinned. “Then let’s make sure we come back with a story!”

hey stepped forward, unaware that this was just the beginning of their greatest challenge yet.

Excited, 11-year-old, Grade 6 student Ved set off on an adventure with his best friend, 11-year-old, Grade 6 student Mihir Sharma, who packed an enormous bag full of snacks—samosas, laddoos, and even a thermos of hot chai. “A great explorer never travels on an empty stomach!” Mihir declared, munching on a pakora. After a long trek through snowy mountains, they found a hidden cave. A huge stone door stood before them, marked with Ashoka’s emblem.

Ved placed the scroll against it. The ground trembled, and the door creaked open.

Inside, glowing murals showed Ashoka’s journey—from a fierce warrior to a wise ruler who chose peace. Mihir, however, was more interested in the journey of his sandwich, which he had just unwrapped. “History is amazing, but snacks make it better,” he said between bites. At the center of the cave, they found a shining crystal with ancient writing.—from a fierce warrior to a wise ruler who chose peace. As Ved touched the crystal, visions filled his mind—Ashoka’s sorrow after the war, his promise to spread kindness, and his wish that one day, someone would continue his mission.

The sage’s voice whispered, “The wheel of Dharma turns again. What will you do with this truth?”

Chapter 5: The Legacy

Returning home, Ved and Mihir shared their adventure—though Mihir mostly focused on how hungry he had been and how well he had rationed his food. inspiring many to learn about Ashoka’s teachings. Though the world was not yet ready for all of its secrets, they knew one thing—the lost threads of Dharma had been found, and one day, they would guide the world toward peace once more.
