A Strange Sight I Story By Aarika ,10, Mumbai

It was the most interesting sight I had ever seen. I rubbed my eyes twice as I could not believe what I saw. A glowing creature stood before me. Terrified, I ran and ran and ran, and my only objective was: Get away from this monster. Then, the last thing I saw was a bright light behind me.

I woke up, gagged, not sure where I was. Suddenly, someone came in front of me. More beings started coming, and soon, people were chattering away as I, tied to a wooden chair, clamoured for someone to untie me. Out of the blue, a man, the biggest one, stepped forward and finally untied me.  Grateful, I thanked him, but he was confused and looked at me with a blank face. I don’t think he understood English, because he spoke to me in a weird language. Puzzled, I didn’t reply, which was apparently rude to them, and they started advancing on me and growling.

With a jolt, I woke up from my deep sleep. Dazed, I looked for a familiar glow, but it wasn’t there! Instead, I spotted my model train, which my dad had gifted me for Diwali. Was I in my room? And more importantly, had I woken up from a dream?

A Strange Sight I Story By Aarika ,10, Mumbai

It was the most interesting sight I had ever seen. I rubbed my eyes twice as I could not believe what I saw. In front of me was a door. This would be normal except I was on a mountain, an isolated one, high up in the sky.

When me and my family reached the mountain, we were tired, so we decided to take a quick rest before we set up our tents for the night. Soon, we were all in a deep sleep, until a strange sound woke me up…

I cautiously approached the dusty door. It was set into a crumbly wall, the old-looking ones, which were made of stone bricks. A mysterious knocking reached my ears as I prepared to open it. As I placed my hand on the doorknob, I heard a crack. Then another. And then the whole wall came crashing down.

I woke up with a start, wondering where I was. All I could see was a bright yellow light, until things became clearer. Then, I gasped as a new world became visible to me. Fairies flying around, witches chasing them, and even a ballroom right in the middle! This was my dream place, since I loved fairy-tale. And then I smelt something delicious. Could it be? I squealed as I saw a big vat of chocolate. Steaming hot chocolate was my favourite! I took a mug I found on a dainty carved enamel table and scooped some up. Sipping it, I sighed as I drank it up, satisfied. I then remembered my family. All of a sudden, I started running like the wind. I couldn’t control it, but I kept running until I reached a door. Wasn’t this the door that collapsed? Nevertheless, I walked through like the Braveheart I was. And then I took off like a pack of dogs were behind me. Soon, I reached a familiar, rocky path, high up. I spotted my family and quietly settled in beside them.
