A Day In The Thunderstorm Classroom
Classroom
As soon as we hear the word “classroom,” a scenario comes to mind: desks and chairs in their places, blackboards scrubbed clean, chalk neatly aligned, and students seated at their desks, attentively listening to their teacher. This scene, especially, is often maintained in convent schools. However, there was class 3A, which was famous worldwide for never maintaining this ideal setup. And how fortunate I was to have not completed my math homework on the only day their teacher was away. The obvious punishment of looking after them for two periods seemed nothing short of a nightmare!
When the time arrived, I walked towards class 3A with a palpitating heart. Soon after reaching, I was welcomed with a huge row of erasers and chalk dust charged at me. Coughing and sneezing, I ran out of the class. I decided to try and make another attempt at at least being able to enter the classroom. This time I decided to enter the classroom through the back gate and this brilliant plan of mine brought success to me.
Game
On entering the classroom, one by one, I made all of the students get seated at their own places. This task seemed more difficult than any math examination as well. Having done that, I asked all of them to please become quiet; however, they ignored me as if they couldn’t hear what I had said. Seeing this, I decided to bring my very own talent into use, which was to shout. I didn’t really want to do that but I was left with no choice. As soon as I shouted, quite became the class. The joy that I got could not compare to anything. Now I decided to trick the class into maintaining silence. I asked them if they would like to play a game. The answer, of course, was ‘yes’. The game I was going to play with them was the silence game. In this game, it was more or less like a competition of who could stay quiet for the longest period. Having heard the word competition, the class became excited and agreed to play the game. The punishment decided for the one who would lose was that she would have to come out and either sing, dance or perform anything based on her wish for 2 minutes. With this, we started playing the game and what fun it was! Soon the bell rang and I was shocked because I hadn’t even realised when 2 periods were over.
Memorable and fun
With this, we had to end our game and surprisingly, the class had done pretty well! Their teacher was back in class, which was my cue for leaving it. I waved them goodbye and I realised I had enjoyed being with them. Being able to handle the loudest class noiselessly made me feel proud. I would certainly never be able to forget this day, because it was memorable and fun.
